Charges filed in fatal shooting of St. Cloud man
A Minneapolis man has been charged with the murder of a St. Cloud man.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said Monday that 33-year-old Chaz Stubblefield is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Ryan Decker.
Victim identified in East Lake Street shooting
According to a criminal complaint, Stubblefield was seen on surveillance cameras at Stop N Shop at about 11:51 p.m. on March 24. Just over a minute later, Decker entered the store with a friend and was told he needed to wear a face mask to enter. As Decker left, cameras show slight contact between him and Stubblefield before Stubblefield punched Decker in the back and the two exchanged words.
As Decker was about to get into a car, Stubblefield caught up to him, confronted and spat at him. After Decker threw a punch, Stubblefield pulled out a gun and shot Decker in the head, the complaint states.
Decker was taken to a hospital but died a short time later.
Stubblefield told officers Decker used a racial epithet after bumping into him.
Stubblefield’s bail was set at $1 million without conditions or $700,000 with conditions.
