Q&A: Ex-East Ridge wing Courtney Brown Jr. on transferring to St. Thomas

St. Thomas men’s basketball is transitioning to the Summit League and D-1 come the fall. They added to their talent pool recently, picking up Wisconsin-Milwaukee transfer Courtney Brown Jr.
The former East Ridge high school stud chose the Tommies over interest from Nebraska-Omaha, Missouri-Kansas City, Western Illinois, and others.
As a sophomore at Milwaukee, Brown Jr. averaged 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 21 minutes in 17 games last season. Brown Jr. averaged 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 31 games in 2019-20.

The 6-foot-7 wing is the first D-1 transfer to land at St. Thomas.
The Cottage Grove native comes from a rich basketball family. His younger brother, Kendall, was a McDonald’s All-American and will play for Baylor next season, while his dad, Courtney Sr., played for the Harlem Globetrotters.
