Minnetonka, Excelsior join cities requiring face masks

Monday, the Minnetonka City Council voted to adopt a mask ordinance to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The ordinance requires the use of masks in public spaces in the city.

The ordinance will go into effect on July 23.

Excelsior also announced that face coverings will be required in indoor public spaces. Those include restaurants, retail stores, spaces of public accommodation and entertainment venues.

A number of cities have passed similar legislation, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Mankato, Rochester, Edina and Winona.
