14-year-old bicyclist killed, another hurt in crash involving vehicle in Douglas County
A 14-year-old bicyclist was killed and another was hospitalized after being hit by an SUV in Douglas County.
A news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said first responders were called just before 10 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a crash involving bicycles on County Road 9 near Carlos.
One of the 14-year-olds was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by Lifelink. A third cyclist was uninjured in the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, the three 14-year-old bicyclists were traveling southbound on County Road 9 when a southbound SUV collided with two of the cyclists.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
The deceased victim was identified as Blake Lee Nohre of Miltona, the injured cyclist was identified as Jayden Joseph Tatro of Carlos.
