Due to the heat on Saturday, multiple fire departments assisted in stopping a Minnetonka Duplex fire.

According to fire officials at 8 p.m., a fire started on one side of the duplex and began to spread to other homes through the wall and ceiling at 6000 block of Covington Terrance.

No injuries were reported, everyone and pets were able to evacuate safely.

Firefighters were working in 10 to 15 minutes cycles due to the heat of Saturday’s weather.

Fire officials say lightning probably caused the fire since there was a flash of light and then a loud thunderclap, but the incident is still under investigation.

No firefighters were injured or needed to be treated for the heat.
