Suspect in Bloomington shooting arrested after high-speed, multi-state pursuit

The suspect in connection to a Bloomington shooting was arrested Friday morning after a high-speed chase with police.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, officers responded just after 3 a.m. to the 7800 block of Normandale Boulevard on the report of shots fired. As they were on their way to the location, they learned a female victim was dropped off at Fairview Southdale Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police say the woman identified the shooter as 28-year-old Jacob McPheeters.

McPheeters was later found in Washington County, and led law enforcement in a pursuit into Wisconsin.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office said it was alerted just before 4:50 a.m. about a police pursuit on eastbound Interstate 94 that was heading toward the Wisconsin border.

The sheriff’s office said it was informed McPheeters was armed with a handgun and had a history with improvised explosive devices.

When the pursuit entered Wisconsin, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit. At times during the chase, speeds reached 120 mph, according to the sheriff’s office.

The McPheeters’ vehicle eventually stopped, and he fled into a cornfield.

After setting up a perimeter, police were able to bring McPheeters into custody.
