The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of scammers impersonating law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office said scammers have been identifying themselves as employees of the sheriff’s office and telling victims they owe money.
Authorities say the scammers may also be using technology to make it appear as though their call is coming from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office encourages anyone who ever thinks they may be getting scammed or who is contacted by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and is unsure of their validity to hang up and call the sheriff’s office back at 763-324-5000.
The sheriff’s office says it will never call anyone and attempt to collect money over the phone.
