The Minneapolis School Board voted down a non-binding resolution which would have started the school year, September 8, with distance learning.

The majority of school board members wanted to wait and see what Gov. Tim Walz recommends for the start of the school year when he announces his decision Thursday.

MPS Board member, Josh Pauly, said he would like to see more detailed information on data from the state before moving ahead with plans specific to Minneapolis Schools.

"I think we need to move forward cautiously and I think we need to know a little bit more before deciding," said Pauly. "I think waiting to hear what the Governor has to say is important."
