1 dead, 1 injured in Minneapolis shooting
One man died and another man was injured from a shooting in Minneapolis Wednesday night.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at 10:57 p.m., officers received a ShotSpotter activation on the 2400 block of 18th Avenue South.
Minutes later, officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound that is considered non-life-threatening.
While officers were helping the victim, they heard another gunshot in the area. Other officers were able to respond to the area and investigate.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they located another adult male but with grave injuries from a gunshot wound. Officers called for a second ambulance and started emergency medical care.
According to police, paramedics arrived and took over helping the victim, but after several minutes the male was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The first shooting victim was transported to Hennepin Healthcare.
Officers immediately cordoned off the area and investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Violent Crime Investigative Division were called to the scene along with the Crime Lab personnel. Officers also canvassed the area and spoke with several people.
The identity, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
