First memorial service for George Floyd held in Minneapolis

A private memorial service was held Thursday in Minneapolis for George Floyd.
The service was held at North Central University in Minneapolis, specifically in the Frank J. Lindquist Sanctuary.
Rev. Al Sharpton delivered a eulogy at the service, and family attended. Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing Floyd’s family, was also in attendance.

Meanwhile, a public viewing and memorial service is also expected to be held Saturday in North Carolina, where Floyd was born, with the viewing at 11 a.m. (EST) and the memorial service at 3 p.m. (EST).
Floyd’s funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) June 9 in Houston. A public viewing will be held the Monday before the funeral, at 12 p.m. (CT).
According to the Associated Press, former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay for Floyd’s funeral and memorial services, and the family has accepted the offer.
