UnitedHealth Group donates $10M to help George Floyd family, damaged Twin Cities businesses

Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth Group announced it is donating $10 million and offering up 25,000 volunteer hours to support George Floyd’s family as well as help Twin Cities businesses damaged during recent unrest.
In a release issued Monday, UnitedHealth Group stated the donations are in an effort "to advance equality and inclusivity in the Twin Cities community."
UnitedHealth Group has established three initiatives for this support: A fund through its "Diverse Scholars" arm for Floyd’s children, volunteer hours and a monetary donation to help local businesses restore their operations, and a monetary donation to the YMCA Equity Innovation Center of Excellence.
"George Floyd’s death is an unspeakable tragedy," David S. Wichmann, chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group, said in a statement. "Communities all across America are struggling to make sense of what’s happened and how we as a society pull together to move forward, heal, learn and grow."
