Semi-driver who drove toward protesters on I-35W will not press charges
A man who was arrested after authorities say he drove a tanker truck toward a crowd of protesters on Interstate 35W on Sunday will not press charges against protesters who assaulted him in the aftermath.
ABC reported Thursday the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Bogdan Vechirko told investigators he did not want charges to be filed.
Vechirko was released from jail on Tuesday. The attorney’s office says the case against Vechirko has been deferred pending further investigation.

At this time, investigators are gathering additional information to help decide whether to charge the driver.
Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said Monday that it doesn’t appear that Vechirko intentionally drove on the highway or tried to cause harm.
Earlier Tuesday, KSTP received a video from MnDOT showing moments before the semi-truck began braking.
