56 test positive for COVID-19 at Faribault Correctional Facility
Dozens of people tested positive for COVID-19 at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault, according to the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC).
Friday evening, DOC said it received several results in the past 24 hours and shared the update: 56 were positive, 22 were negative and 15 were still pending.
DOC said all those who tested positive are either asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms. It also said the positive cases are among people living in the same unit.
As of Friday, the total population at the facility was 1,843 people. The department said all people who test positive are isolated following Department of Health protocols.
DOC said the facility was already operating on a modified scheduled but will now operate on a further limited schedule to try to contain the spread of the virus.
