A teenager was found unresponsive after falling off a 30-foot cliff in Chisago County.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the area of Milltown Road and U.S. Highway 8 in Taylors Falls at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on a report that a person had fallen off a rock cliff in Interstate State Park.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded and began searching the area, navigating "extreme terrain." Eventually, 19-year-old Luke Lawrence Zajac was found unresponsive.
Emergency personnel rendered aid to Zajac on scene and ultimately lowered him to safety so he could be transported to a hospital. From there, he was airlifted to a Level 1 trauma center for further care, the sheriff's office said.
No other details regarding what caused Zajac to fall or what condition he's in were immediately available.
This picture does not capture the magnitude of the terrain but we do not advise snowboarding off of cliffs. No matter the terrain, we are only one call away! https://t.co/7VDurhgYy0 pic.twitter.com/oLJ1BYFBrB
