Hot, humid Sunday, chance for storms late

The second half of this weekend will be much warmer with higher humidity, making for unpleasant conditions outdoors.

KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said Sunday will have a high temperature near 90 degrees with a dew point in the 60s, meaning it’ll be quite humid.

With the heat and humidity, heat index values are expected to be in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees.

Yuhas said some severe thunderstorms are also possible Sunday afternoon or evening over northwestern Minnesota and west into the Dakotas. The greatest risk will be in the Red River Valley, which has the potential for a tornado.

Looking ahead to the workweek, Monday will be even hotter with mostly sunny skies. Chances for storms return Tuesday with heavy rain and even some flooding possible. We’ll have cooler and less humid weather by the end of the week.
