Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responds to reports of law enforcement slashing tires during protests, unrest

Tuesday, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to report of law enforcement slashing tired during protests and unrest following the death of George Floyd.

The sheriff’s office said its officers, along with Minnesota State Patrol troopers, disabled unoccupied vehicles that were in a law enforcement perimeter and "obstructing law enforcement operations," by slashing the tires of the vehicles

The deflation of the vehicle tires occurred on the South Washington Avenue bridge over I-35W.

The sheriff’s office said its deputies were not involved in the deflation of tires at Kmart, where it was reported law enforcement was using similar practices.
