So Minnesota: Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul

The Twin Cities has a big history with trains, but there’s one museum that takes that connection down to a very small size.

The non-profit Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul has a long history. On May 1, 1934, a group of modelers met to form a club.

From these humble beginnings, the Twin City Model Railroad Museum has grown to a world-class museum.

"I think people are blown away that this is here and it’s that kind of hidden gem in St. Paul," Brandon Jutz with the museum said.

More than 100 volunteers have faithfully reproduced Twin City’s railroad history. The mission is to preserve the history of model railroading and toy trains.

"You see the trains running, but also when you start to see the little detail on each of the layouts," Matt Walwitz with the museum said. "It really starts to bring you in and just look at those scenes, that’s why people can spend a few hours here."
