Sheriff's office: 2 who damaged snowmobile trail signs in Dunn County identified
Authorities are requesting formal criminal charges against two people accused of damaging more than 70 signs along snowmobile trails in Dunn County.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office said it received reports of criminal damage to signs along the snowmobile corridors of 20 and 33 in Spring Brook and Rock Creek townships on Sunday.
On Monday, a reward was offered by local snowmobile clubs and local businesses, and tips from the public were received.
The sheriff's office said it worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and identified two males as being responsible for the damage, which authorities say they admitted to. The total cost of the damage was estimated at about $2,000.
The signs have been repaired by the Elk Lake Blizzard and Brunswick Beavers snowmobile clubs, according to the department. Criminal charges against the two males have been requested. The department didn't publicly identify the two.
