Strong storms likely Thursday afternoon across state

Scattered thunderstorms are expected Thursday throughout the state.

Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said scattered showers will be around until 1 p.m. Then, after about 4 p.m., Yuhas said stronger thunderstorms will develop along a line from St. Cloud to Redwood Falls, heading east into the metro after 5 p.m.

Yuhas said those storms could produce significant wind gusts and heavy rain.

The National Weather Service issued an alert around 4:30 p.m. about strong storms moving into southwestern Wright county, southeastern Meeker county, northern McLeod county, and northwestern Carver county.

Looking ahead, Friday is expected be mostly sunny and breezy, with low humidity. A passing shower is possible, however, most of the day and evening will be dry.
