17-year-old killed in shooting in north Minneapolis

Police are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday night in north Minneapolis.
According to Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder, officers responded to a report of a shooting at 8:09 p.m. in the area of 30th and Knox avenues north.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound. He did not have a pulse and was not breathing, Elder said. They attempted life-saving measures and transported him to North Memorial Health Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead.
According to preliminary investigation, there were multiple people driving around inside a vehicle. Someone shot into the vehicle, striking the 17-year-old. The vehicle drove back to the area of 30th and Knox, let the victim out and left.
Police are still trying to find out where the shot was fired, who was in the vehicle and where the vehicle is.

This is the 25th homicide in Minneapolis this year, Elder said.
