Police: Construction worker dies after falling from balcony at Lakeville construction site

A construction worker suffering from a serious head injury after falling from a balcony at a construction site died Monday, according to Lakeville police. 

At around 11 a.m., Lakeville police were called to 17000 block of Glacier Way to investigate a construction site accident after a 911 caller reported that a worker had fallen from a balcony.

Once the officers arrived on the scene, they found 26-year-old Jose Francisco Cela Guasco suffering from a severe head injury. They started life-saving efforts until medical responders arrived at the scene. 

Lakeville Fire Rescue, Allina Ambulance and North Air Care all responded and took over care, but responders were unable to revive Cela Guasco.

Numerous safety items, including hard hats, safety harnesses and railings, were all in place at the time of the accident.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Cela Guasco's manner of death was ruled an accident from blunt force head injuries due to a fall from a height.
