18-year-old killed in Pope County crash involving tractor-trailer
An 18-year-old is dead after a crash involving a tractor-trailer Sunday afternoon in Pope County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, around 12:42 p.m., a 2007 Pontiac sedan was driving westbound on County Road 18 just west of Highway 104 in Glenwood Township when it crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a Kenworth tractor-trailer traveling the opposite direction.
The driver of the Pontiac, Josiah Michael Wright, 18, of Starbuck, Minnesota, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the crash report stated. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
According to the State Patrol, the driver of the truck, Steven Robert Nelson, 35, of Paynesville, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
