Mille Lacs County sheriff warns boaters of bog on Rum River

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office is warning boaters about a bog on the Rum River that is a hazard to those traveling the river. 

According to the sheriff's office, the bog is located at the Soo Line Trail Trestle in Onamia. The river is completely blocked off by the bog. 

The sheriff's office asks anyone looking to canoe or kayak the river put in south of the blockage. 

Authorities say the blockage has the potential to pull boats and people into the water, trapping them underneath the bog.
