South St. Paul boys hoops team remains perfect with win over St. Croix Lutheran

South St. Paul boys basketball is for real. They beat St. Croix Lutheran on Wednesday night, 78-65, to stay undefeated in Class 3A

For a team that struggled to win more than they lost in recent years, coach Matthew McCollister has turned the Packers program around in a big way.

St. Croix Lutheran got off to a fast start behind the shooting of Zach Longueville. The Crusaders took an early 20-9 lead in the first half. South St. Paul went on a run of their own, outscoring St. Croix Lutheran 25-3 before Crusaders guard Jaden Neish hit a 46-footer at the halftime buzzer. South St. Paul led 34-26 at the break.

The Packers, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A , got a huge lift from Marquise Gleb. He scored 24 points, while teammate Alonzo Dodd scored 22 points.
