Golfers from around the state of Minnesota are getting the itch to play again. With great weather, Stonebrooke Golf Club in Shakopee decided to open for business on Tuesday, and KSTP Sports was there.

"I’ve been waiting for this day since September of last year to play again this is great. I’m on spring break right now from Normandale Community College and I told my dad we need to get a tee time. This will be a fun day," said Jake Ridgely of Prior Lake before his round.

There’s still a fair amount of snow on the ground at Stonebrooke, but the die-hard players didn’t seem to mind.

"I was about to drive 3.5 hours to South Dakota to play. This worked out great when I found out Stonebrooke Golf Club was going to be open. I called my son and told him we were going to play and he got all excited. Today will be a great day," said Scott Ridgely, Jake’s dad.

Both Scott and Jake wore shorts on a balmy 59-degree day, but they’re true Minnesotans, so a little cool air wasn’t going to slow down their golf outing. Stonebrooke G.C. had tee times booked solid between 8:00 am straight through to 4:00 pm.

Other area golf courses around the metro should be opening soon, weather permitting.
