St. Cloud man arrested after shots fired at gas station

A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after shots were fired at a gas station in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud police said an officer was in the area of the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue South at 12:10 a.m. when gunshots were heard. The officer then saw a man put something in a vehicle and get inside the vehicle, which was parked at a gas station. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled and crashed into a retaining wall. The suspect then ran away.

Police said a perimeter was set up and a K-9 was called to locate the suspect but it was unsuccessful. Nobody was injured by the gunshots.

At about 1:45 a.m., the suspect was spotted walking in an alley in the 700 block between Sixth and Seventh avenues. An officer attempted to stop the man but he ran again. Eventually, the suspect ran into a house where he was taken into custody after an officer deployed his Taser.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Christopher Omar Murry. The department added that he’s believed to have no affiliation with the house where he was captured.

Officers found a rifle in the front seat of his vehicle. The department said a past conviction made Murry ineligible to possess a gun.

An investigation remains ongoing.
