Man pleads guilty to helping mother in murder of his father

A Scott County man has pleaded guilty to helping his mother in the murder of his father in 2013.
Court records show Austin Herbst entered the plea to one count of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Herbst and his mother, Connie, were arrested and charged last year. That came after a dog found Gary Herbst’s skull south of Barron, Wisconsin in December 2017 and brought it to its owner. Law enforcement found Gary Herbst’s skeletal remains a short time later.
Austin Herbst’s sentencing is set for June 4. Connie Herbst’s next court appearance is set for April 27.
