Eastview survives a late surge by Shakopee 47-46

Eastview breathes a sigh of relief after Nick Katona’s 3-pointer at the buzzer is off the mark for Shakopee, the Lightning win 47-46 at Shakopee High School on Friday night.

Defense was the name of the game in the first half for Shakopee holding Eastview to 13 first-half points. Shakopee’s largest lead in the game was also 13 points.
But the second half belonged to Eastview, the Lightning went on a 20-1 run and took its first lead with 7:50 remaining in the game. Zach Spann hit a 3-pointer giving Eastview the lead 35-33.
Shakopee rode the coattails of Mick Wherley who scored a game-high 20 points for the Sabers. Wherley made a lay-up with eleven seconds to go in the game cutting the deficit to one point, but with three seconds remaining in the game teammate, Nick Katona couldn’t hit the game-winner at the buzzer, Eastview wins 47-46.
Eastview finishes the regular season 16-2, while Shakopee falls to 13-5.
