MDH reports 699 new COVID-19 cases, 22 new deaths

Sunday, state health officials reported 699 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota and 22 more deaths, pushing the state’s totals to 15,668 cases and 722 deaths.

Of the positive cases, 1,811 are health care workers.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, state labs have completed 18,224 tests, and private labs have completed 132,381 tests.

Of the cases, 2,090 total patients have been hospitalized. On Sunday, 487 patients were in the hospital and 221 were in intensive care.

So far, 10,175 patients are recovering, according to the MDH. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate, including those who have died.

As of Sunday, according to case data from Johns Hopkins University, total COVID-19 cases in the world have amassed to 4.6 million.

Of the total cases, 1.4 million are in the United States. The data shows 312,381 people have died from the virus in the world and 88,836 have died in the United States.

Globally, 1.7 million are recovering from COVID-19.
