Charges filed in connection with Hibbing gunshot call

Two men now face charges in connection to a shots fired call in Hibbing last week, according to ABC affiliate WDIO.

According to the Hibbing Police Department, Nicholas Ryan Champa, 22, from Chisholm, has been charged with second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and intentionally pointing a gun at someone.

Another man, 24-year-old Levi Jean Jacobson, from Scandia, faces charges consisting of aiding an offender, receiving stolen property and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

The charges stem from an incident in which a report was made of someone firing a gun at a group of people around 11 a.m. Thursday along the 2500 block of Fourth Avenue E.

According to criminal complaints, one witness claimed he saw Champa fire the gun and then get into Jacobson's car. The cause of the fight is not clear at this time.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident.

The Minnesota State Patrol arrested both men on Highway 37. Authorities said they found a couple of firearms and some spent ammunition in the vehicle.
