Gov. Walz announces plans for phased reopening of bars, restaurants and places of ‘public accommodation’

Gov. Tim Walz and state officials are expected to announce plans for the phased reopening of bars, restaurants and places of "public accommodation" Wednesday.
Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove confirmed the announcement will be made in a tweet Tuesday morning.

The governor’s announcement is expected to come at 3 p.m. Walz previously said he hoped to safely reopen bars, restaurants and salons by June 1.

Monday, the state’s "stay at home" order expired, allowing some non-essential business to reopen. The expiration of the order also allows gatherings of 10 or less.
Walz ordered the closure of such businesses in March to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
