MDH reports 813 new COVID-19 cases, 33 new deaths

Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 813 new positive COVID-19 cases, the most new cases in a single day so far, moving the state total to 19,005 cases.
MDH also reported 33 new deaths, which is also the highest number reported in a day since the outbreak began. The state’s total is up to 842 total deaths. Of that overall total, 688 have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, according to MDH.
As of Friday, the state has completed 20,114 tests and private labs have completed 160,857 tests, MDH reported.

According to MDH, 2,432 total cases have required hospitalization. Of that total, 534 remained in the hospital Friday with 233 in intensive care.
The department reports 12,696 patients no longer need to be isolated. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate but no longer includes those who have died.

More than 1.9 million people worldwide are recovering as of Friday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
