MDH reports 652 new COVID-19 cases, 18 new deaths

Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reported 652 new positive COVID-19 cases, pushing the state’s total to 21,960 cases.
MDH also reported 18 additional deaths Tuesday, moving the state’s total to 899. Of that total, 732 have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The department stated, as of Tuesday, the state has completed 22,097 tests while private labs have completed 187,801 tests.
According to MDH, 2,709 total cases have required hospitalization. Of that total, 570 remained in the hospital Tuesday with 258 in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 15,523 patients no longer need to be isolated, according to MDH, which is now reporting that the number of patients no longer needing isolation "does not include those who have died; the cumulative number was adjusted to reflect that change."
According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 5.5 million people worldwide and killed about 346,873.
More than 2.25 million people worldwide have recovered as of Tuesday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
Note: According to MDH – "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
