Gov. Tim Walz pushes back Governor’s Fishing Opener to 2021

Gov. Tim Walz announced he is canceling his official fishing opener event this year and having it pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Walz, the fishing season will still start on May 9, 2020, but the governor’s event will be pushed back one year to May 7 to May 10, 2021.
The DNR is urging anglers to use good judgment when choosing where to fish this season.
