Authorities investigating Carver County crash; 1 dead

Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred in Laketown Township Thursday morning.

According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened in the 8600 block of County Road 10 at about 5:04 a.m.

Deputies who arrived at the scene found the vehicles had crashed head-on and both drivers were injured.

Authorities said lifesaving measures were attempted on 43-year-old Tor Tyler Heglund, of Waconia, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, identified as 61-year-old Curtis Edwin Heldt, of Mayer, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Deputies noted there was no evidence of drug or alcohol impairment.

The crash remains under investigation.
