MDH: 4 new deaths reported Friday, COVID-19 cases total 789 in Minnesota

Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported there are 47 new cases that have tested positive for COVID-19, creating a total of 789 cases in the state.

Twenty-two total deaths have also been reported.

The department stated, as of Friday, the state has completed 8,682 tests and private labs have completed 15,545 tests.

Of the total, 156 cases have required hospitalization.

According to MDH, 410 patients no longer need to be isolated.

Counties with at least one positive test include: Anoka, Beltrami, Benton, Big Stone, Blue Earth, Brown, Carlton, Carver, Cass, Chisago, Clay, Clearwater, Cottonwood, Crow Wing, Dakota, Dodge, Douglas, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Itasca, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Koochiching, Lac qui Parle, Le Sueur, Lincoln, Lyon, Mahnomen, Martin, Meeker, Mower, Nicollet, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Ramsey, Renville, Rice, Scott, Sherburne, Sibley, St. Louis, Stearns, Steele, Traverse, Wabasha, Waseca, Washington, Watonwan, Wilkin, Winona, Wright and Yellow Medicine.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 1,039,166 people worldwide and killed about 55,092.

More than 219,019 people have recovered so far.

According to the CDC, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or diarrhea.
