IRS launches tracking tool for federal economic impact payments

The IRS now has a website where taxpayers can track the status of their economic impact payments from the federal coronavirus relief package.

The $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, which passed Congress last month, promised payments to American taxpayers who met certain requirements.

Individuals who made up to $75,000 are eligible for a one-time $1,200 stimulus payment, and all married couples who combined for up to $150,000 in gross adjusted income are eligible for a one-time $2,400 stimulus payment. Those payments are gradually smaller for higher incomes.

Anyone who has already filed a federal income tax return for 2019 does not need to take further action to receive an economic impact payment.

To track your payment using the IRS's website, type in your Social Security number, your date of birth and your street address as it appears on your tax return.
