St. Paul police: Woman injured when heavy equipment used to move tent she was in
A woman suffered "significant injuries" Wednesday after a tent she was in was impacted by the bucket of a St. Paul utility vehicle.
St. Paul police said officers and paramedics were called to the 1200 block of Payne Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on a report of a woman injured by heavy equipment. When they arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman with injuries and transported her to a hospital for treatment.
According to police, a city worker was sent to remove an abandoned tent. When he arrived, he didn't check inside the tent and began to remove it with a utility vehicle equipped with a front bucket. While picking it up with the equipment, he noticed someone was inside.
Police said the man called 911 after seeing the woman was injured.
As of Thursday, the woman was in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
