MDH: 2,071 total COVID-19 cases, biggest one-day jump in deaths to 111

On Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 159 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s total to 2,071.

Seventeen more deaths were reported on Friday as well; so far 111 Minnesotans have died from the virus.

The MDH stated that state laboratories have completed 9,855 tests and private laboratories have completed 33,198 tests, for a total of 43,053.

Of the cases in Minnesota, 518 have required hospitalization. On Friday, there were 223 patients in the hospital and 106 in intensive care.

According to the MDH, 1,066 patients have recovered and no longer need isolation.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 2,165,500 people worldwide and killed 145,593.

About 549,996 people have recovered from the virus.
