Vanderbilt leads No. 1 Alabama 23-14 at halftime

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Vanderbilt Commodores have never beaten a No. 1 team in football. A very fast start has put them in position to do just that. They lead Alabama 23-14 at halftime after taking their biggest lead ever over a top-ranked team at 16 points. Vanderbilt scored the first 13 points in a start that featured the Commodores’ first opening drive for a TD against Alabama since 2007 in Nick Saban’s second game coaching the Tide. Alabama won that game 24-1O. Only the Tide scoring late trimmed that to single digits. Sedrick Alexander has run for two TDs for Vanderbilt. Randon Fontenette also had a Pick-6 off Jalen Milroe.
