1 dead, 1 arrested following shooting outside St. Paul tobacco shop

A man died in a shooting Tuesday afternoon outside a St. Paul tobacco shop, police said.
A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS camera captured the scene as police investigated the shooting outside Maryland Tobacco near the intersection of Maryland Avenue East and Clarence Street on the city’s East Side.
More than a dozen white evidence markers dotted the sidewalk by the business’ front door.
During a press conference on Tuesday evening, St. Paul police said they arrested a man in connection with the shooting following a short foot chase. He was taken into custody on the 1500 block of Clear Avenue East, and a handgun was also found on him.
Investigators are working to learn what led up to the shooting.
