Search warrant issued in deadly Floodwood crash
A search warrant has been issued in St. Louis County to obtain a blood sample from the driver of the semi-truck involved in Wednesday’s deadly crash near Floodwood that killed four people.
The search warrant, signed by a judge on Wednesday, says that a witness traveling behind the International 9000 semi driven by 63-year-old Gregory Anwiler of Grand Rapids noticed the semi going over lanes on both sides of Westbound Highway 2 and going to various speeds before the crash happened.
The officer who filed the search warrant also talked to Anwiler at the hospital and said that he observed him to have slow reactions while seeming to be “groggy and lethargic,” the search warrant says.
The officer also noted that Anwiler said he couldn’t remember anything before or during the crash when the officer spoke to him.
The crash happened in a construction zone Wednesday afternoon and involved four vehicles — a GMC Acadia, Ford Escape, Mac Semi, Honda Pilot — plus the International Semi. The four vehicles were stopped in traffic due to construction when the International semi hit them, the Minnesota State Patrol report says.
All four people in the Honda Pilot were killed — two adults and two children.

Anwiler has not been charged in the crash.
