Classes at the University of St. Thomas are all online but some students are still gathering to help in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
These students are using the school’s 3D printers to make medical supplies, such as face shields and masks.
One student told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he got the idea while thinking about ways to help.
He put the word out and classmates responded.
"We have all of these resources that the school bought for students to use for the entire semester that aren’t going anywhere so they may as well get used for something," student Collin Goldbach said.
Goldbach said his group can produce up to 60 shields and masks a day.
He said they’ve partnered with hospitals throughout the Twin Cities to get the supplies to doctors and nurses.
