1 arrested after domestic assault in White Bear Lake

Authorities arrested a man after a domestic assault in White Bear Lake on Friday afternoon.

At around 11 a.m., White Bear Lake police were called to a home near the intersection of White Bear Avenue and Rishworth Lane for report of a domestic assault. When officers arrived, they escorted members of the household to safety while a man barricaded himself in a back bedroom.

The man said he had a gun and refused to follow commands, according to law enforcement.

White Bear Lake police say they had cause to arrest the man for felony domestic assault and he had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.

The Ramsey and Washington County SWAT teams were then activated and White Bear Avenue and Rishworth Lane were closed to traffic for public safety.

The incident ended with authorities arresting the man and no injuries were reported by police.

In a social media post around 4 p.m., White Bear police said traffic had opened up and the area was deemed safe.

More details, including the man’s identity, will be released by the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office pending a charging decision.
