St. Paul police investigating homicide in Como neighborhood

The victim was identified on Tuesday as Andrew Gutzman, 37, of St. Paul. No arrests have been announced.

St. Paul police are investigating a homicide that took place in the Como neighborhood Friday morning.

At around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a home on the 900 block of Hatch Avenue after a 911 caller reported someone was dead. When police arrived, they talked to the caller, who said a woman approached them and said someone was dead inside the home.

Officers went into the home and found a man who was not conscious or breathing. St. Paul Fire medics responded but pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators are interviewing the woman who originally reported the dead body and are working to determine the circumstances of the man’s death. No arrests have been made at this time, according to police.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and identify the victim and his cause of death.

This is the 14th homicide of the year in St. Paul.
