Otter Tail County authorities continue search for missing man with dementia, volunteers needed

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for volunteers to help with their search on Monday for Robert Shaw, 79.

Officials are asking the public to keep an eye out for a man with in his 70s who went missing out of Otter Tail County on Saturday morning.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says they are looking for volunteers to help with their search on Monday for Robert Shaw, 79.

Shaw went missing from the rural Henning area in Otter Tail County near County Highway 134 and State Highway 29 early Saturday morning, according to officials with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

Shaw is 5’10” and 160 pounds. Officials did not specify what he was last seen wearing. Shaw has dementia, the BCA added.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. Monday at 21791 State Highway 29 in Henning. If you want to help, you’re asked to wear appropriate waterproof boots, bug spray and a charged phone. Searchers will need to navigate heavily wooded and marshy land.

Searchers will also be asked to download the Caltopo app, which is free.

Other agencies assisting in the search will be horses, UTVs, airboats, the State Patrol Aircraft and members of the National Guard Civil Air Patrol.
