Scattered rain and storms overnight through Saturday, heaviest rainfall southern MN

The Twin Cities, southern Minnesota and much of western Wisconsin remain under a Flood Watch now through Saturday afternoon. Flood Warnings are in place across much of southern Minnesota now into the overnight hours from Owatonna to Mankato towards southwestern Minnesota. Multiple inches of rainfall have fallen across southern Minnesota over the last 24 hours, and multiple inches of rainfall looks likely across southern Minnesota overnight.

Scattered storms with heavy rainfall look likely for the Twin Cities mainly overnight into early Saturday. Isolated strong to severe storms are possible overnight, and again Saturday afternoon for eastern MN and western Wisconsin. The Twin Cities could see another 0.75″ to 1.5″ of rainfall tonight through Saturday evening. Locally heavier totals are also possible.

Sunday looks to be the pick of the weekend with partly to mostly skies and highs in the low 80s. A few sprinkles are possible Sunday, but that’s more likely Up North.

Rising water levels into this weekend and next week across area waterways, with a handful of Flood Warnings along area rivers will need to be monitored. Expect changes in the timing of each flood warning, which will be contingent on how much rainfall we see locally the rest of today, tonight and tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend!
