MDH reports highest single-day total of COVID-19 deaths; positive cases total 2,721
The Minnesota Department of Health on Wednesday reported 154 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 2,721.
MDH also reported 19 more deaths from the virus, the highest single-day total so far. In total, 179 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19.
State laboratories have completed 10,508 tests, and private labs have processed another 38,836. A total of 46,623 people have tested negative for the virus.
Statewide, 660 patients have required hospitalization. On Wednesday there were 240 patients still in the hospital and 107 in intensive care.
According to MDH, 1,317 patients have recovered from the virus and no longer require isolation.
According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 2.5 million people worldwide and killed 179,725.
About 696,948 people have recovered from the virus.
