More and more cases are being linked to a Ham Lake man who was arrested last week after a years-long investigation.
Jory Wiebrand, 34, is charged in connection with a 2019 sexual assault in Minneapolis, and sources told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he's being investigated in at least four other attempted assaults dating back to 2013.
In a criminal charge, prosecutors allege Wiebrand is linked to nine other burglary and sexual assault cases in Minneapolis and Anoka County but did not elaborate.
Sources told KSTP there are three additional investigations into alleged assaults, mostly in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood and Dinkytown area. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office also confirmed investigators are looking at Wiebrand in an attempted abduction of woman at Bunker Hills Park in 2013.
In one such case, survivor Brooke Morath said Minneapolis Police informed her that Wiebrand is the man who they believe attacked her in 2015 in the middle of the night.
"It is horrible, and it is something I have to deal with the rest of my life," Morath said. "And now knowing there is possibly four additional cases is just a terrible thing to hear."
Morath said she wants other women who have survived sexual assaults and believe Wiebrand was their assailant to contact investigators and reach out to other survivors for support.
"Even if you were not sexually assaulted and he did not succeed that way, you are still going to be traumatized like any other victim of a violent attack would be," Morath said.
