Near record warmth this weekend

Good evening and happy Friday! Your weekend forecast is looking pleasant and mainly dry, with near record high temperatures possible both Saturday and Sunday for the Twin Cities. Tonight’s lows are in the mid-30s, with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies late overnight. Saturday looks to be a mostly to partly sunny day with highs near 63° and breezy southerly winds. The record high for March 2nd for the Twin Cities is 54°, set back into 1923. Count on partly cloudy skies Up North, with a few showers possible across the Minnesota/Canadian border.

Sunday is a little cloudier than Saturday with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures Sunday make a run for 70° (record is 65°, 1905). Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Sunday, mainly afternoon and night. However, I don’t expect the coverage of the rain or storms to be widespread. Overnight Sunday into Monday temperatures are colder and a light wintry mix is possible into Monday morning.

Temperatures next week still stay above our average high temperatures (in the mid-30s), and I’m keeping an eye on a potential storm system Thursday night into Friday next week.
